…wander into the street to retrieve his ball. His parents weren’t watching, so he went unfettered, flush with the joy of playing, and concerned that the ball would be lost. A car slowly came to a stop, with plenty of space for the boy to retrieve his ball and run back to his front lawn. The driver got out of his car and yelled at the parents, alerting them to the danger the boy was in. The parents didn’t like his tone and approached his car, arguing back like it was none of his business how they raised their child. The arguing continued, and led to a fight, with the driver getting the worst of it. Head bleeding, he got back into his car and drove away amid kicks to the fenders. The boy sat on the lawn and cried.
Just something I made up. This didn’t really happen, but I could see it happening. It’s funny, there are times you want to help, but that help is thrown right back into your face. Like they say, “No good deed goes unpunished.”
