…was on the right path. “Just get a job, any job” his sister would say. But how do you explain what’s in your heart? “I think you’re sick in the head” his girlfriend scoffed. Then she broke up with him. Too bad for her, and her dog.

There is just…
…no way this man can fit himself through that tiny tube. -But he can, I’ve seen it. -You’ve seen it? -Well, not seen it. But he left a trail. -A trail? -Of cookie crumbs, yes. -Really? -That’s the gist. So yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus.
When she cried…
…it was as if the world stopped. Everything faded away, making her the center of all things.I pray she can find solace in my arms, feel my presence as I hold her head just right, forgetting the burp towel, forgetting everything, giving my soul to her.
A hurricane is headed our way.
I imagine it as a solid wall of wind and water, standing as tall as the sky. Dark and dreary, full of energy, and yes, fire, the inner cauldron giving it life. I see it moving over water, a firm beast seeking its prey, then scourging the land, destruction its cause, life taker, home wrecker.Continue reading “A hurricane is headed our way.”
Hang the Moon by Jeannette Walls
I was in a book store and happened upon this book (see July 21st post, minding my own business). I read the liner notes and thought it looked promising, so I got it along with several other books. So there I was, minding my own business…
I was at a strip mall, looking for some supplies. I walk out of the store, take a look around, and I spot it. A Barnes and Noble book store. If you know me, you know I have a weakness for book stores. I didn’t want to go, really! But I looked at my feet,Continue reading “So there I was, minding my own business…”
Portent by James Herbert
Hey folks, I’m back with another book review. But first, please understand that when I picked this one up I was thinking Frank Herbert of Dune fame. No relation, absolutely. In fact, James’ writing is so different from Frank’s that it’s easy to see that they are no relation. At the time of purchase IContinue reading “Portent by James Herbert”
