This happened while I was in NYC. I’m just minding my business at work when a co-worker comes up to me and says he read in the paper how the shuttle Enterprise was coming to the Intrepid Museum on the west side of Manhattan. While it was coming it would do a fly-by over theContinue reading “Here’s a good story”

I finished my book.
Last week in fact. I was so happy. I added some dialog, fixed my flow, changed a few run-on’s, deleted parts, added parts, and now I’m done. I’ve never been more thrilled at anything before. So proud of myself. Then I re-read it. And re-read it again. And again and again. Four times, I re-readContinue reading “I finished my book.”
So is it time for me to define my writing style?
I find that I like to write straight-forwardly (is that a word?), in that I write the way I would speak, or think. I don’t know if that’s a valid style or not, but I like it. I also find I like to write conversations in a screenplay-ish manner, i guess. for example: -We’re goingContinue reading “So is it time for me to define my writing style?”
Uh oh!
My characters are coming to life. Not what I expected. I’m trying to get through this novel re-write when all of a sudden my characters got into an argument. I didn’t plan on it, but now that my characters have more depth, things got out of hand. They’re coming to life in a way IContinue reading “Uh oh!”
Clear my head, ooohhhmmm…
Now that I’m back from editing cheerleader pics I gotta clear my head and finish my story. Turns out I’m writing a novel. I say this because recently I found a clip on word counts. My story started as a novella because it was under 50,000 words. Now, after I finished my creative writing courseContinue reading “Clear my head, ooohhhmmm…”
Another quickie
Now I add them to the top of the page, duh! Took me so long to figure that out. Anyway, today’s post will be brief. I finished those cheerleader photos, and if you’re nice I’ll show you one. What the hell, you know me, I love showing off pictures. But just one, legally they’re notContinue reading “Another quickie”
…and I’m still not done.
I don’t know how many of you are photographers, but if you are, and mean commercial photographers, then you know how I feel. When I took those cheerleader photos, I don’t just take one photo and switch to another pose. I take several. This is important, especially when I’m doing groups. In every group there’sContinue reading “…and I’m still not done.”
So I’m really putting some thought into this book I’m writing.
I thought that I would just correct a few things every here and there, but now I’m re-writing some passages to to add meat to it, to fill it out. I thought I’d be done already, but not only am I not, I’m adding stuff, re-working other things, and generally having a good time aboutContinue reading “So I’m really putting some thought into this book I’m writing.”
Ughh, what a day.
So I’m trying to be a writer, focusing and honing my craft. A friend comes by and reminds me I’m also a photographer. I’m like, Duh! And she’s like , “Cool, you can come and take pictures of these gorgeous cheerleaders.” And I’m like, “What? I have more important things to do. I’ve got toContinue reading “Ughh, what a day.”
So now I have to make my characters talk to each other.
What’s up with that? Okay, of course they must converse, to trade feelings, ideas, to get a message across, or have a heart to heart. But it’s like, as you write, you have to remember who’s talking, why would this person say that, how would the other respond. You have to develop multiple personalities insideContinue reading “So now I have to make my characters talk to each other.”
